TEC Grills Lead The Way To Infrared Grills

by on February 12, 2009

A company that has been in business for over forty years, developing applications for infrared radiant energy, creates TEC grills. In 1961, TEC (Thermal Engineering Corporation) invented a highly efficient ceramic infrared burner and they have blossomed to become known as “the infrared experts”.

TEC stays busy with R&D and they have over 30 patents to prove it. They are always on the leading edge, having produced the first gas grill eith a concealed tank in 1980, and the also invented the first infrared grill. TEC was also the inventor of a glass infrared cooking system, the first all metal flare-resistant infrared grill and also the first portable infrared grill system.

With infrared technology, grills are able to heat up faster, cook evenly across the cooking surfaces, and use less fuel. Radiant energy ” that which is produced by infrared ” does not need to transfer heat through any medium, but rather produces its heat by exciting (moving) the molecules themselves within the food. Think, for instance, of rubbing your two hands together. As you rub them together, heat is produced; this is similar to how the electronic molecules within foodstuffs are exciting when heated with radiant energy.

TEC has won numerous awards for their technological advances in the grilling field. In 2005, they won the “Hearth and Home Magazine” Vesta Award for Best New Barbecue and Best In Show for New Outdoor Room Products. In 2006, TEC won the “Kitchen Innovations” award from the National Restaurant, Hotel-Motel Show with the TEC Searmaster II Infrared Charbroiler. 2006 brought them the GFEN “Blue Flame” Product of the year Award. In 2006 they were nominated by the International Academy of Science for Outstanding Technology of the Year Award for its G400FR model.

TEC infrared grills have many advantages over the competition. First, it uses 100% stainless steel burners which ensures that they can handle the heat over time. TEC varies the size and shape it’s apertures to evenly distribute the heat; and when I see even, the variance is never more than 5%.

TEC controls flare-ups with metal burners that use 100% primary air. A secondary source would be a potential source of flaring.

Cooking intensity has a wide range so that you can grill virtually anything with the TEC grills. Temperatures are 300F – 900F. Gas efficient, the TEC grills use up to 50% less gas than any other grill.

The TEC Searmaster II offers a great return on investments with savings through gas, labor, and food cost while producing delectable meals. Even if you choose ‘well done” for your steak, the food will still be juicy, with less than 30% shrinkage. This model is practically maintenance free.

The Sterling Series is also worth looking at. They are all made with 14 and 18 gauge 304 stainless steel so rust and dings are not going to happen. That make the lifetime warranty easy for TEC.

These and all models of TEC grills can be found worldwide at such locations as True Value, ACE, Lehrer, and Ferrelgas.
